The Fjords of Hordaland County, Norway

I am lucky and eternally grateful that my friend Susanne lives in Bergen. Today she drove me through a few of the biggest fjords near the city on the west coast of Norway. We saw Sørfjorden, the Hardanger Fjord, and drove through Eidfjord to see the waterfalls of Vøringsfossen.

The views were absolutely magnificent. The fresh air was clear and crisp.

I am not going to get all poetic here -just look at the photos.

I really want to make a pun about ‘the best things in life are free, even these views are a-fjord-able.’ But really, even driving through the fjords in a personal little car is expensive! There are tolls all over the roads and a few bridges. One bridge costs the equivalent of 100 American dollars for a truck to cross.

Norway is not cheap.

But it is the most beautiful place I have ever been.
